The Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communication and Digital Economy, William Kabogo, has affirmed Kenya’s commitment to build a robust and secure digital superhighway for techno-driven economy.
In a speech he issued during the opening of the 2025 National Cybersecurity Conference and First Technical Colloquium, Friday, Mr Kabogo lauded the Communications Authority of Kenya and the Kenya Computer Incident Response Team for securing the country’s cyberspace from threats and infiltration.
He further noted that Kenya is cognizant of the role by digital landscape in realising a a functioning digital economy.
“The government agenda envisions Kenya as a digitally empowered nation, leveraging on technology to uplift its citizens and transform crucial sectors of the economy,” the CS stated.
“As we embark on this journey, it is imperative that we focus on building a secure digital superhighway by securing Kenya’s digital economy and building a future workforce that can thrive in the digital age.”
The CS stated that the digital economy remains a core component for the economic growth, as it presents “immense opportunities for individuals to leverage their skills, generate income, and contribute to the overall development of our nation.”
He stated, “We must ensure that the platforms and networks enabling access to e-Government services, e-Commerce, and connecting workers and employers are protected from cyber threats.”
“Digital revolution is transforming the way we navigate the digital space thereby requiring new skills. By equipping the youth with the necessary digital literacy and technological expertise, we empower them to thrive in the digital economy,” he further added.
According to Kabogo, Kenya is a front-runner in Sub Saharan Africa in adopting various forms of technology and the this years conference will only add extra gains in strengthening this sector.
