Nearly 70% of Kenyan firms eye AI adoption, says report

Nearly 70 percent of organisations in Kenya aim to fully adopt the usage of Artificial Intelligence (AI) by the end of 2026, a study reveals.

According to KPMG’s Global Tech Report 2026, 26% of businesses have reached this milestone, indicating a modest adoption rate over the previous three years. In an effort to expand investments, businesses are going beyond trials and attempting to integrate AI into key operations and products.
According to the latest analysis, acceptance is quick, and expectations are high, but returns vary greatly and scaling might add more complexity.
The shift from isolated trials to incorporating AI and cutting-edge technologies into core systems and amplifying their influence is what is driving this rise of optimism.

With an average ROI of nearly fivefold—more than twice the industry average of twofold—high performers—those companies at the forefront of technology maturity, process maturity, and value—are already reaping the benefits.

“The ROI pattern is equally nuanced: rather than a single investment ‘sweet spot’, clear ROI ‘zones’ emerge, from early quick wins to accelerating, enterprise‑wide value as maturity increases,’’ report reads.

Only 24% of organizations achieve ROI across various use cases, despite 88% spending in integrating agentic AI into their systems and 74% claiming that their AI use cases are producing commercial value.
According to the survey, 90% of them intend to expand their tech ecosystems and alliances over the course of the next year, yet 53% still lack the expertise necessary to realize their objectives for digital transformation.
At least 78% of those surveyed concur that in order to remain relevant, they need to take greater chances with developing technology.
