Swiss-Belhotel International has signed a hotel management agreement with Albushra Real Estate Limited for The Gama by Swiss-Belhotel, a new property in Kilimani, Nairobi, marking the global debut of the group’s latest brand concept and reinforcing its expansion strategy across Africa.
The signing builds on Swiss-Belhotel International’s growing footprint in East Africa, where the hospitality group already operates several properties.
Nairobi, one of the region’s leading commercial and lifestyle hubs, continues to feature prominently in the group’s long-term growth plans.
Scheduled to open within the next 12 months, The Gama by Swiss-Belhotel will be located in Kilimani, a fast-growing mixed-use district popular with business travellers, expatriates, and the city’s young professional population.
The hotel will comprise 155 guest rooms and a broad mix of leisure and business amenities, including two food and beverage outlets, a fully equipped gym, a rooftop swimming pool, a dedicated ladies’ sauna, and expansive ballroom and meeting facilities designed to cater for conferences, corporate events, and social functions.
Albushra Real Estate Limited described the project as a forward-looking investment aligned with Nairobi’s evolving hospitality market.
Dr. Sheikh Mohamed Shakul, Chief Executive Officer of Albushra Real Estate Limited, said the development is intended to respond to changing traveller expectations while reflecting the vibrancy of the city.
“The Gama by Swiss-Belhotel represents a bold and future-focused development for Nairobi,” Dr. Shakul said.
Our vision was to create a modern hospitality and lifestyle destination that captures the energy of the city while meeting the needs of today’s traveller. Partnering with Swiss-Belhotel International, with its global expertise and strong operational standards, ensures this project will set a new benchmark in the market.
For Swiss-Belhotel International, the project signals both brand innovation and geographic expansion. Mr. Gavin M. Faull, Chairman and President of Swiss-Belhotel International, said the Nairobi signing is a significant milestone for the group as it introduces a new brand to its global portfolio.
“The launch of The Gama by Swiss-Belhotel marks an important step in our brand evolution,” Mr. Faull said.
“Africa remains a key focus market for Swiss-Belhotel International, and Nairobi, in particular, offers strong long-term potential. This agreement reflects our confidence in the city’s growth trajectory and our commitment to delivering contemporary, market-driven hospitality brands.”
Swiss-Belhotel International’s leadership highlighted that The Gama brand has been designed with emerging travel trends in mind, targeting guests who value experience, connectivity, and design alongside comfort and service quality.
Mr. Laurent A. Voivenel, Senior Vice President – Operations & Development, EMEA and India, said the concept aligns with the preferences of a new generation of travellers.
“The Gama by Swiss-Belhotel has been carefully conceptualised to resonate with guests seeking authenticity, smart design, and social connectivity without compromising on comfort,” Mr. Voivenel said.
“This signing strengthens our presence in Kenya and underscores our broader expansion strategy across Africa and other high-growth emerging markets.”
With Nairobi continuing to attract regional business activity, international investment, and a growing tourism market, the upcoming opening of The Gama by Swiss-Belhotel is expected to further diversify the city’s hospitality landscape while reinforcing Kenya’s position as a key destination for global hotel brands.
