TikTok Introduces New Feature that Allows The Regulation Of Daily Screen Time

by Ndungu Brian

TikTok has introduced a new feature that allows one to decide how long one can spend on TikTok each day.

You can set your teen’s screen time limit directly from your own account, and if your teen has multiple devices, the set time limit will apply to each device individually.

Having a positive relationship with digital devices and apps isn’t just about measuring screen time, it’s also about feeling in control of how we use technology and ensuring that the time we spend online contributes positively to our sense of well-being.

That’s why today we’re taking several steps to help support our community’s digital well-being as they create and discover on TikTok:

  • Two new practical tools:
    • screen time breaks that will prompt people to take a break after a certain amount of uninterrupted screen time, which can be custom set;
    • a screen time dashboard to give our community oversight on how much time they are spending on TikTok.
  • new digital well-being guide on our Safety Centre to encourage our community to reflect more holistically about how they spend their time online – whether on TikTok or elsewhere.
