497 new COVID-19 cases reported in Kenya, 11 patients die

Kenya has recorded 497 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, raising the national tally to 27,425.

Health Chief Administrative Secretary Mercy Mwangangi said 15 patients succumbed to the virus in the past 24 hours, with 11 having underlying conditions.

Mwangangi also announced that 372 more patients have been cleared after recovering from the virus, including 57 from hospitals and 315 patients from home-based care programme.

Speaking during the daily briefing on the status of the pandemic in the country, the CAS has warned of the need to increase protective measures, even as the virus marks presence in all 47 counties with Nairobi being identified as the epicenter.
