Majid Al Futtaim has expanded its retail footprint in Kenya with the opening of its 30th Carrefour store at Waris Mall in Ruai, marking another milestone in the company’s growth across East Africa.
The new 1,500-square-metre outlet, which opened on 26 September 2025, has created over 40 new jobs while strengthening partnerships with local suppliers, farmers, and small businesses. The store will serve the wider eastern Nairobi region, offering everyday essentials and fresh produce sourced directly from Kenyan farmers.
With this latest opening, Majid Al Futtaim now operates 30 Carrefour stores nationwide, including 25 in Nairobi and surrounding satellite towns, four in Mombasa, and one in Kisumu. The expansion underscores the company’s commitment to supporting Kenya’s economy while delivering quality, convenience, and value to customers.
Majid Al Futtaim Retail holds exclusive rights to operate Carrefour across 12 markets in the Middle East, Africa, and Asia, with a network of over 390 stores. The company, which employs 43,000 people globally, has owned assets valued at $19 billion and maintains the highest credit rating among privately held corporates in the region.
In Kenya, Majid Al Futtaim Retail sources 99 percent of its products locally, aligning with the group’s commitment to support local economies, producers, and suppliers. The company also provides omnichannel customer experiences through its physical and digital services, serving over 700,000 customers daily across its markets.
Beyond Carrefour, Majid Al Futtaim operates several other retail brands including HyperMax with 44 locations in Jordan and Oman, Supeco with 15 locations in Egypt, and Myli, its health and beauty brand, with 12 stores across Asia and North Africa.
