Latitude59 Returns to Nairobi, Seeking Africa’s Next Unicorn Startups

Latitude59, the premier startup and technology conference from Estonia, has announced the return of its African edition to Nairobi for the third consecutive year, with applications now open for the L59 Pitch Competition scheduled for December 3-5, 2025.

The competition, which has shown significant growth since its inception, nearly doubled its application numbers last year and is targeting early-stage startups across the African continent with proven market traction.

Strong Track Record Drives Expansion

“Previous winners Chumz and Vunapay have demonstrated impressive revenue and growth trajectories, validating our investment in the African startup ecosystem,” said Triin Ilves, Head of Startup Relations at Latitude59.

The competition’s success has contributed to Latitude59’s broader continental ambitions, with organizers aiming to establish it as Africa’s most impactful startup and tech event by 2027.

Investment Opportunity and Market Access

Selected startups will gain access to over 350 investors attending the three-day event at A.S.K Dome, with the winning company receiving a fully-funded trip to Estonia for Latitude59 2026 and fast-track entry to the semi-finals in Tallinn.

“African startups house some of the most compelling early-stage founders we’ve encountered globally,” noted Latitude59 CEO Liisi Org. “They demonstrate exceptional resilience and are addressing challenges with international market potential.”

Application Process and Timeline

The competition will select 10 finalist teams from all applications, with the October 25, 2025 deadline approaching. Selected companies will receive professional pitch training and mentoring before the December finals.

The main Latitude59 event in Estonia has established itself as a significant player in the global startup ecosystem, attracting over 3,500 participants in 2025, including representatives from more than 70 countries and nearly 700 investors.

Eligible startups must be African-based with core teams on the continent and demonstrate measurable traction in their respective markets. The Nairobi edition is expected to draw 3,000 participants from Africa, Europe, and other regions.
