Lovince Mckenzie Links Up With Joshua Baraka and Ayo Maff on “Locked In”

Lovince Mckenzie is teaming up with Joshua Baraka and Ayo Maff on “Locked In,” the new single that sets up his upcoming EP, Dance and Soul. Three artists from Kenya, Uganda and Nigeria on one track says a lot about how connected African pop has become.

The song combines Mckenzie’s Kenyan-American background, Baraka’s place in Uganda’s current music scene, and Ayo Maff’s Nigerian roots.

A partnership that keeps growing

“Locked In” isn’t the first time Mckenzie and Ayo Maff have shared a track. Their earlier song, “Light Up,” gave Mckenzie a wider audience, and this new release shows the two are still building on that chemistry. Together with “On My Way,” these singles sketch the direction Mckenzie has been moving in, and Dance and Soul looks set to bring it all together.

The track draws on modern African rhythms, blending melodic expression with dance-oriented influences to create a sound that balances feeling and movement.

Beyond its title, “Locked In” evokes the idea of commitment, focus and being fully invested in a person or experience. It taps into the appeal of music that combines emotional connection with an infectious rhythmic energy, making it suited to both relaxed listening and more upbeat settings.

The collaboration also highlights the cultural exchange shaping African music today. With artists bringing different backgrounds and musical perspectives to the same project, the song creates a meeting point for audiences across the continent, demonstrating how music continues to bridge geographical and creative boundaries.

Whether “Locked In” becomes a late-night replay or a party starter, it proves that African music is at its best when artists stop worrying about borders and start building together. With Dance and Soul on the way, Mckenzie looks ready for what comes next.
