8 More People Succumb to COVID-19 in Kenya as 137 Turn Positive

Eight more people have died in Kenya due to COVID-19, bring the country’s total fatalities to 743.

Health Chief Administrative Secretary Rashid Aman also announced Tuesday that 137 more people had tested positive bring the total caseload to 39,586.

Cases were identified from a sample of 1258.

At the same time, the number of recoveries rose after 296 more people were discharged, bringing the recovery figure to 27,331.

The CAS spoke when he closed the Industrial Remand Prison, following a sustained high rate of infections among prisoners.

According to the CAS, of the 64 cases of coronavirus recorded within Nairobi Tuesday, 44 cases were from the remand prison.
