AAR Healthcare marked its annual Environment Day with a major reforestation exercise at the Ngong Forest Sanctuary, where the organization planted 24,000 seed balls in partnership with the Kenya Forest Service (KFS).

The activity also coincided with the launch of AAR Healthcare’s Sustainability Report, outlining the company’s commitments to environmental conservation, climate action, and community health.

The initiative is part of AAR Healthcare’s broader efforts to support Kenya’s target of achieving 10% national forest cover and mitigate the impacts of deforestation, desertification, and climate change. The company says it is strengthening its focus on community partnerships, biodiversity protection, and youth involvement in environmental activities.

“As a healthcare provider, we deeply understand the vital connection between a healthy environment and the well-being of our communities,” said Elizabeth Wasunna, General Manager, AAR Healthcare.

She noted that the company’s tree planting initiatives, including the One Tree for Every Patient campaign, offer a scalable model designed to benefit both current and future generations.

Over the past year, AAR Healthcare has planted nearly 20,000 indigenous trees in public spaces and learning institutions. According to the organization, careful site selection and local partnerships have ensured higher survival rates of the seedlings. The planting of the additional 24,000 seed balls marks a significant expansion of the company’s environmental program.

The initiative received support from several corporate partners who sponsored a charity golf tournament to raise funds for the reforestation effort. The sponsors included Standard Chartered Bank, AIK, IRIS Graphic, Dragon Fly, Archbuild, Harleys, Valentines Cake House, Lerba Lancet, Absa, Fredex, Bold Edge, Brand Beyond, Let’s Go Party, and Run Beyond.

Beyond its environmental interventions, AAR Healthcare continues to implement its flagship CSR initiative, Trees for Health (T4H). The program integrates environmental education and community engagement, working through the Employee Voluntary Program (EVP) to involve schoolchildren and institutions in conservation activities.

The T4H platform also supports the company’s preventive healthcare outreach. In the past year, AAR Healthcare’s Mass School Deworming Program reached 107,128 children across more than 100 schools, helping to improve health outcomes and reduce absenteeism.

AAR Healthcare says these combined efforts reflect its long-term commitment to environmental sustainability and community well-being as it continues expanding its climate and social impact initiatives across Kenya.
