Over the Bridge, a Nigerian psychological thriller directed by Tolu Ajayi, will begin screening in Kenyan cinemas from 6 June, marking the first release under a new Pan-African distribution initiative called Screen Connect.

The film follows the story of Folarin, a successful investment banker whose carefully curated life begins to unravel after a major infrastructure project handled by his firm collapses. As the fallout intensifies, he is forced to confront hidden truths about his work, his relationships, and himself.

Ajayi, who previously directed MTV Shuga Naija and Showmax’s Diiche, says the story draws inspiration from his own experiences as a young intern in the Nigerian financial sector during the 1990s. The film shifts between quiet, reflective moments and tense corporate confrontations, exploring the cost of ambition and the complexities of success.

The cast includes Ozzy Agu (Castle & Castle), Segilola Ogidan (A Naija Christmas), Joke Silva (Blood Sisters), Deyemi Okanlawon (Blood Sisters), Chimezie Imo (Breath of Life), and Paul Adam (La Femme Anjola).

Over the Bridge earned 12 nominations at the 2024 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, including Best Director, Best Movie, and Best Editing. It won Best Cinematography and Best Production Design.

The film will screen at Century Cinemax locations in Junction Mall, Garden City Mall, and Two Rivers Mall throughout June.
