iXAfrica Data Centre Limited (iXAfrica), East and Central Africa’s largest hyperscale, carrier-neutral, AI-ready facility, has been selected as the host partner for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) in Nairobi, Kenya.

The new public cloud region, announced by H.E. President William Ruto in January 2024, is expected to meet the growing demand for OCI services in the country.

OCI’s decision to partner with iXAfrica highlights the data centre’s unique position as Kenya’s most execution-ready hyperscale facility.

Purpose-built to global cloud standards, iXAfrica combines carrier neutrality, high-density AI capability, resilient power architecture, and proximity to critical connectivity infrastructure, making it the only facility in the market capable of supporting immediate public cloud deployments at scale.

“We are delighted to be in execution mode to bring OCI to Kenya,” said Snehar Shah, CEO of iXAfrica.

This collaboration leverages our renewable energy, skilled talent, and abundant submarine and national connectivity to support regional cloud adoption.

Hosting OCI locally will allow businesses in Kenya and the region to accelerate digital transformation, deploy latency-sensitive applications, and develop AI-powered services closer to end users.

The partnership is expected to strengthen Kenya’s digital economy by providing world-class infrastructure that is resilient, sovereign, and globally competitive.

“Around the world, governments and enterprises rely on OCI for its security, scalability, and ability to run mission-critical workloads that enable innovation at scale,” said David Bunei, Oracle Kenya Country Leader.

“Our collaboration with iXAfrica will further support the growth of Kenya’s digital economy.”

With construction, power, and connectivity infrastructure already in advanced stages, iXAfrica is operating at full capacity to support hyperscale cloud platforms.

The readiness of the facility underscores its commitment to delivering resilient and scalable digital infrastructure that meets the stringent operational requirements of global cloud providers.
