Solarise Africa and RUBiS Energy Kenya’s joint venture RUBiSOL has received the “Deal of the Year 2024 – East Africa” award from DealMakers AFRICA.
The partnership, focused on renewable energy solutions for commercial and industrial clients, aims to expand access to reliable, cost-effective clean energy across the region.
Launched in November 2024, RUBiSOL merges Solarise Africa’s solar and hybrid energy systems with RUBiS Energy Kenya’s infrastructure and market reach. The collaboration enables businesses to reduce fossil fuel reliance and adopt renewable alternatives.
“This award recognizes our effort to transform East Africa’s energy sector,” said Jan Albert Valk, CEO of Solarise Africa. “RUBiSOL provides businesses with cleaner energy options, cutting costs and supporting long-term sustainability.”
For RUBiS Energy Kenya, the deal signals a strategic shift toward decarbonization. The company aims to diversify its energy portfolio through incorporating renewable systems into its fuel distribution network.
“Our partnership addresses the need for integrated renewable solutions in the region,” added Olivier Sabrié, Group Managing Director of RUBiS Energy Kenya. “RUBiSOL helps clients achieve energy resilience while aligning with broader climate goals.”
The transaction required restructuring both companies’ operations, negotiating client agreements, and securing approvals from Kenyan and COMESA competition authorities. A hybrid debt-equity financing model supported the deal, with legal advisory by ENS.
