Leading digital lifestyle company in Tanzania, Tigo on Friday launched a new data and voice bundle it says will give customers autonomy on the usage of their data bundles. Dubbed “Bando Halichachi” which loosely translates to ‘Bundle does not expire’ allows customers to use their bundle as they please without worrying about bundle expiration time limits.

Mr William Mpinga, Tigo Tanzania’s brand manager said the new product was an indication of the company’s wavering commitment to give customers the freedom to communicate.

“We are launching this unique bundle with the confidence that it will be the perfect solution for our loyal customers – a clear indication that we listen, are responsive and will continue to be first to deliver practical digital telecom solutions in Tanzania”

This latest bundle is part of Tigo’s evolution of offering services in its innovative journey, amongst them the introduction of free WhatsApp, Swahili Facebook and YouTube that the telecom launched in 2016.

Tanzania’s internet penetration has in the last three years been growing and telecommunication firms have been investing their resources in data. According to sector regulator, Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA), the number of connected devices has risen from 5.3 million in 2011 to 19.86 million in 2016. Currently telcos are locked in promoting  4G-LTE network as they seek to exploit 4Gs speed in a bid to rake in more subscribers.
