AAR Healthcare Kenya Hits 360,000 Patients Annually, Plans Major Expansion

AAR Healthcare Kenya has reached a significant milestone in its journey toward enhancing healthcare access across the country, serving 360,000 patients annually at its 29 outpatient centres.

As the company celebrates its 40th anniversary, it has announced plans to expand its network to 40 outpatient centres and onboard five additional specialists, increasing its total to 25. This expansion aims to meet the growing demand for high-quality healthcare services in Kenya.

During the anniversary celebration, Elizabeth Wasunna, General Manager of AAR Healthcare, expressed pride in the organization’s achievements, stating, “Reaching 360,000 patients is a testament to the trust our community places in us. We are excited to expand our services and continue to provide the best healthcare possible.”

She further emphasized the company’s commitment to scalability, saying, “As we celebrate our 40th anniversary, we are committed to expanding access to high-quality and affordable healthcare for all Kenyans.”

Since its inception in 1984, AAR Healthcare has pioneered the private healthcare sector in East Africa, introducing the concept of Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs).

The organization has evolved from providing basic emergency and outpatient services to becoming a leader in preventive, curative, and diagnostic healthcare. AAR Healthcare boasts a remarkable patient return rate, with 85% of patients returning for support, highlighting the quality and reliability of its services.

AAR Healthcare is equipped with state-of-the-art medical technology and staffed by highly qualified and experienced professionals. The organization offers a comprehensive range of services, including specialized treatments for cardiovascular, upper respiratory, gastrointestinal, and dermatological conditions, along with dental and pediatric care.

Recently, seven of AAR Healthcare’s newest outpatient centres—including those in Karen, Mountain Mall, Green House, Nairobi City Center, Ngong, Syokimau, and Rongai—received SafeCare Level 5 certification, joining the esteemed ranks of Sarit and Williamson clinics.

In addition to providing exceptional healthcare, AAR Healthcare is deeply committed to community well-being and environmental sustainability.

The organization integrates Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices into its strategic framework, guiding its efforts to achieve meaningful social and environmental objectives. “Our goal is to ensure that every Kenyan has access to modern medical services right in their community,” said Wasunna.

AAR Healthcare actively supports local communities through various impactful initiatives. Its deworming and handwashing programs benefit over 200,000 children annually, while career mentorship initiatives reach around 7,000 students each year, aiming to shape the next generation of leaders.

Furthermore, the Tree for Health (T4H) initiative has successfully planted more than 256,000 trees in schools and public spaces over the past five years, promoting environmental stewardship and encouraging healthier lifestyles among Kenyan children.

As AAR Healthcare looks to the future, it remains focused on advancing healthcare access and quality while being a responsible corporate citizen.

The upcoming expansion is expected to enhance its capacity to serve a growing patient base and affirm its position as a leader in the healthcare sector in East Africa. With a solid foundation built over four decades, AAR Healthcare is poised for an exciting new chapter in its mission to provide high-quality healthcare to all Kenyans.
