Frankfurt-based online networking and employment platform with a focus in Africa, afringa has launched its operations in Rwanda. Dubbed to be a ‘LinkedIn for Africa’ the platform has connected more than 3500 members in over 40 African nations.
The Rwanda operation will be run by Sibomana Oemba Jean De Dieu. The platform aims to help African business professionals, entrepreneurs, and young talent connect with organizations and career opportunities across the African continent.

The platform aims to change the entire traditional recruiting process by allowing job seekers to apply through an ingenious video recruiting system after setting their online career profiles, get access to all featured jobs, and use video technology to apply.
Services for seekers are free of charge and all they need is an email address but companies need to pay for afringa’s recruiting services such as jobs they want to advertise. The standard solution allows companies to use the innovative video recruiting tool. Candidates respond to job postings with a video message introducing their personality and motivation. In a second video, candidates demonstrate their problem-solving skills on a given case. After all, a video conveys the job seeker’s personality more individually than a traditional cover letter. This way, recruiters can easily shortlist candidates and conduct final interviews with the most suitable aspirants.
Founded in 2017, the firm says that machine learning technology will play a vital role in its future platform enhancements. The team plans to incorporate a personal education counselling system, as well as individual guidance to support rejected candidates to improve their chances for employment with recommendations for further education. In 2017 afringa won the the ‘Social Impact Lab’ scholarship, backed by JP Morgan, and social institutions, in 2018 afringa won a six-months pro-bono law consulting with Hogan Lovells, London-based international law firm.
