Kenya’s COVID-19 Death Toll rises to 506 after 19 patients succumb to the disease

Kenya’s COVID-19 death toll has risen to 506 after 19 more patients succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, translating to 1.6 per cent case fatality. 

The Ministry of Health’s Chief Administrative Secretary Rashid Aman says most of the patients who succumbed had pre-existing health conditions with leading ailments being diabetes and hypertension.

Kenya has also reported 244 more recoveries in the last 24 hours, raising the number of those who are free of the disease 17,612. 

The Ministry said of the new discharges, 168 are from the home based care program while 76 were discharge from various health facilities.

The CAS spoke when he reported 379 new COVID-19 cases analyzed from 3,867 samples in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of registered cases in the country since March to 31,015.
