Baraka Smiles Foundation launches the “1 Million Healthy Smiles Campaign” to provide dental care to Kenya’s most vulnerable.
The foundation aims to raise Ksh50 Billion by 2027 to address dental health issues affecting the elderly, children with disabilities, orphans, and other disadvantaged groups across all 47 counties.
Poor oral health impacts millions in Kenya, affecting nutrition, speech, self-esteem, and overall well-being. Baraka Smiles Foundation, established in 2014, aims to improve access to dental services and prevent oral and throat cancer.
The foundation plans to implement the initiative in 10 pilot counties starting in 2025 through mobile dental clinics and medical camps. They will collaborate with local communities and county health units to identify beneficiaries and engage schools and healthcare centers for oral health awareness.
Baraka Smiles Foundation has already completed pilot programs in Kiambu and Nairobi, serving over 4,423 elderly individuals, 2,141 children with special needs, and 590,000 school children. They’ve also trained over 1,500 teachers on oral health awareness.
