In the recent gala award ceremony held in Dubai for the World Travel Awards (the Oscars of the travel industry), the Malindi resort won the Best Boutique Resort in Africa for 2023, an award it had already won in 2022, its first year after reopening as a hotel for the general public.

The recent reconversion of the Billionaire Resort is yet another step in requalifying the coast of Kilifi which has taken the form of a public-private initiative known as the Kenyan Riviera.
