McLaren Racing has announced that Mastercard will become the Official Naming Partner of its Formula 1 team starting in 2026.
Established in 1963 by racing driver Bruce McLaren, the team entered Formula 1 in 1966 and has since secured 21 Formula 1 World Championships, 200 Grand Prix victories, three Indianapolis 500 wins, and a debut victory at the Le Mans 24 Hours.
Today, McLaren Racing competes across five major series. In Formula 1, the team fields drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri. In the NTT INDYCAR SERIES, Arrow McLaren competes with Pato O’Ward, Nolan Siegel, and Christian Lundgaard.
The team also participates in the F1 Academy through its Driver Development Programme with Ella Lloyd and competes in the F1 Sim Racing Championship under the McLaren Shadow banner.
Beyond racing, McLaren is a strong advocate for sustainability and inclusivity within motorsport. As a signatory of the UN Sports for Climate Action Commitment, the team has pledged to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2040 while fostering a diverse and inclusive culture.
From the 2026 season, the team will be renamed the McLaren Mastercard Formula 1 Team. The expanded partnership aims to strengthen fan engagement by offering exclusive access and experiences. Mastercard will launch “Team Priceless,” a global initiative designed to bring fans closer to the team throughout the race calendar. Select fans will be offered opportunities such as on-track hot laps, driver meet-and-greets, and curated cultural experiences in host cities.
McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown emphasized the significance of the partnership as one that will bring fans closer to the team and create memorable experiences.
“There is no one more important to us than our fans, so I could not be more delighted to enter this next chapter with Mastercard. Mastercard is a partner that shares our values, and becoming our naming partner provides the perfect platform to build on our success on and off the track.”
According to Mastercard’s Chief Marketing and Communications Officer, Raja Rajamannar, the alignment of values between the two organizations is a clear representation of innovation, precision, and performance.
“Our partnership has always been about putting fans first, and becoming the Official Naming Partner of McLaren Formula 1 takes that commitment further. Through initiatives such as Team Priceless, we look forward to giving fans even more to enjoy, this season and beyond.”
