The vibrant city of Kampala in Uganda welcomes its first-ever Four Points by Sheraton hotel, contributing to the ongoing revitalization of the country’s visitor economy.

Designed and delivered by the renowned African planning, design, architecture, and engineering firm FBW Group, this multi-million dollar hotel development has officially opened its doors to guests.

Featuring 142 guest rooms and suites, along with a variety of amenities including restaurants, bars, a ballroom, meeting rooms, a swimming pool, and a fitness center, the new Four Points by Sheraton Kampala promises a comfortable and memorable stay for both business and leisure travelers.

The inauguration of this landmark hotel coincides with Uganda’s ambitious marketing campaign, “Explore Uganda, The Pearl of Africa.” The initiative, spearheaded by the Uganda Tourism Board, aims to offer visitors a once-in-a-lifetime adventure and attract tourists from around the globe.

Encouragingly, recent statistics indicate a positive rebound in Uganda’s tourism sector, with a 59% increase in visitor numbers recorded in 2022. In 2021 alone, the country warmly welcomed approximately 814,508 international visitors.

Situated at the base of Kololo Hill, an upscale residential area, and in close proximity to Nakasero, Kampala’s central business district, the Four Points by Sheraton Kampala is conveniently located just 40km away from Entebbe International Airport.

FBW Group, with operations in Uganda, Kenya, and Rwanda, played a pivotal role in the hotel’s realization, providing comprehensive design and construction services. Their expertise encompassed project management, architecture, structural and civil engineering, as well as MEP engineering.

Nigel Tilling, project director at FBW Group, expressed his delight at the completion of this remarkable addition to Kampala’s hospitality landscape. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, the entire construction and design team demonstrated exceptional professionalism and determination, resulting in the successful delivery of the hotel.

As part of the Marriott International family, Four Points by Sheraton is a globally recognized brand catering to business travelers and conventions. With 291 properties worldwide and 53,054 rooms as of June 30, 2020, Four Points by Sheraton is one of the fastest-growing hospitality brands, boasting an additional 130 planned hotels with 27,342 rooms.

FBW Group has played a significant role in Uganda’s visitor economy, having previously delivered Kampala’s first boutique hotel, The Emin Pasha. Nestled amidst two acres of tropical gardens in the heart of the city, this luxury 20-room hotel remains a popular choice for discerning travelers.

The group’s architects and engineers have also contributed to several high-profile hotel and leisure projects across East Africa. Notable examples include the extensive refurbishment of the Hotel Umubano in Rwanda’s capital, Kigali, the design of bespoke boutique lodges in Rwanda and Kenya, and the development of a major internationally branded hotel in Nairobi, Kenya.

Stuart Harley, the group’s chief operating officer, expressed pride in FBW’s involvement in key developments, including the latest Four Points by Sheraton project.

These hotel investments have elevated standards and delivered exceptional experiences for visitors to Uganda, ultimately supporting the recovery and growth of the tourism sector following the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
