Kenya’s gaming community is growing fast, with a new generation of players turning gaming from a pastime into a competitive pursuit. As interest in the space builds, opportunities for young gamers to test their skills, gain exposure and compete globally are becoming increasingly important.
It is against this backdrop that Red Bull Wings Cup, Red Bull’s first-ever global EA SPORTS FC 27 competition, was created. It brings together university students, and casual and competitive gamers, for a chance to earn a place at the World Final in Miami in January 2027.
Players will battle through two qualification pathways. In the University League, students will compete at universities and student gaming hubs in One-on-One Rush Mode, while the Open League will be played online. When qualification ends, the top 8 players from each league (16 in total) will secure a spot at the National Finals on 7th November at the Century Cinemax, Sarit Centre, where they will compete to decide Kenya’s ultimate EA SPORTS FC champion.
Kenya’s national winner will then take the competition to the global stage, representing the country at the Red Bull Wings Cup World Final in Miami in January 2027 against national winners from the other participating countries.
Building a platform for Kenya’s next generation of gamers
The activation is part of Red Bull’s wider focus on gaming culture and its ambition to create opportunities for players to compete internationally. Through Red Bull Wings Cup, the brand is uniting gaming and football communities while building a pathway from local competition to the global stage.

This competition is about giving our local gaming talent a platform to shine and show the world what they can do,” noted Johann Mackboush, Red Bull Wings Cup Sportive Director.
Powering the game beyond the screen
Kenyan fans can also enjoy EA SPORTS FC in a new way with the launch of a limited-edition Red Bull can. Each can carries a unique code that can be scanned to unlock exclusive in-game rewards, including Red Bull player cards and season points.
