President Kenyatta orders new registration of boda bodas

by Ndungu Brian

President Uhuru Kenyatta has today ordered all boda boda riders to be registered afresh

This follows a video that has been surfacing the internet where a group of rogue boda boda riders attacked and molested a female driver after an accident.

Speaking during the marking of the International Women’s Day at the Kenya School of Government (KSG) in Nairobi, Uhuru also directed a crackdown on all rogue boda boda riders across the country.

“I did give instructions and I have ordered all boda boda operators starting here in Nairobi and moving across the country to be registered afresh,” the President said.

“A boda boda is not a licence to strip and remove dignity from our women, we want to work together with you to help your business prosper but you must also do your bit…….we cannot be a society that allows that” he added

He cautioned leaders against politicizing the issue by claiming that the government is hurting small business people in the country noting that his government has helped the industry grow more than any other through various measures including reduced purchase prices.
