COVID-19 cases in Kenya rise by 246 as 6 more die

Kenya has reported six more coronavirus-linked deaths raising its death toll to 548.

This now represents a case fatality rate of 1.69 per cent. 

In a statement, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe also announced the recovery of 217 patients including 178 who were placed under home-based care.  

This brings to 18,670 the total number of patients who have been cleared after recovering from the virus since April 1.

The east African country also reported 246  newly detected infections picked from 4179 screened samples raising the cumulative number of cases reported since March 14 to 32,364. 

The new cases include one-year old infant and are distributed among 157 males and 89 females.
