The National Treasury and Planning has launched the virtual launch of budget preparation process for the Financial Year 2021/22 and the Medium-Term Budget to the public.
The launch will officially began on 10th September 2020.Virtual participation from the public is encouraged considering the spread of Corona in public places. This marks the first ever participation since the promulgation of the new constitution in 2010
The Kenyan constitution enshrines in Article 201 the importance of public participation in budgeting process. Public participation involves transparency in the financial management, and fiscal reporting. It also details on the revenue raised nationally and its distribution among the national and county governments.
