NARC-Kenya Party leader Martha Karua has announced that she will be supporting Raila Odinga for President in the incoming General Election.
Karua made the announcement today during a function at Serena Hotel in Nairobi where she also announced her formal exit from the One Kenya Alliance (OKA).
The function was attended by ODM leader Raila Odinga together with other leaders of the Azimio Coalition.
“I am here to confirm, that from now onwards, NACK Kenya and I are supporting the Azimio Presidential candidate Raila Odinga, and this is without any equivocation” said Karua
Karua said that she decided to support Odinga because he has demonstrated leadership and selfless contribution to Kenya’s democracy.
“All sides of the political divide have people who looted [the country’s coffers] in the past. All sides have people who do not believe in the rule of law, and all sides have good people,”…….“Nonetheless, I have identified a mass of good people in the Azimio la Umoja coalition,” she said in her address.
“I don’t think she had any choice because the difference between this and that side is like day and night or black and white. The people who are together in the struggle are on this side,” said Odinga while welcoming Karua in Azimio.
Karua’s entry into the Azimio La Umoja Coalition means that all One Kenya Alliance Principals are now supporting Odinga after the entry of Kalonzo Musyoka of Wiper Party and Gideon Moi of KANU.
Her move comes amid speculation that she would join the Kenya Kwanza team after she had been named as one of the guests during the United Democratic Alliance(UDA) national delegates conference but she dismissed the claims.
