Fire Engulfs Moi Girls High School Eldoret

by Kwabe Ben

Fire engulfed Moi Girls High School in Eldoret last night at around 11 pm when fire razed down two physics laboratories and chemical stores in a two-story building in the compound.

Parents upon noting the incident quickly rushed to the school trying to get in and assist where possible though were assured of the children’s safety and urged to calm down as the Uasin Gishu fire brigade fought the fire.

Despite the fire being put out before it could wholly burn the ground floor chemistry lab, property of an undisclosed amount was destroyed in the two laboratories.

Police who arrived and secured the scene later set into investigations with detectives who compiled a preliminary report though could not ascertain the cause of the fire in the initial investigations.

Even though unconfirmed reports alleged that the fire would have resulted from a gas leak in one of the laboratories.

This can be attributed to the students who had a practical session inside the laboratory in the morning hours.

Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing as the police are looking into gas leak explosions, electric faults, and arson being the main causes of the fire.

Following the fire, teachers conducted a roll call and held a prayer meeting with the students ensuring everyone was safe and secured.
