Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga has emerged as the most popular presidential candidate barely days after announcing Martha Karua as his running mate.
According to research done by Trends & Insights for Africa (TIFA), the Azimio team would garner 39 percent of the votes while his main challenger Dr. William Ruto who named Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua as running mate would get 35 percent of the votes if the elections were held today.
Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka would emerge a distant third with just two percent of the respondents saying they would cast their vote in his favor
The Azimio team is most popular in five of the nine zones where the survey was conducted; Nyanza (69%), Coast (49%), Lower Eastern (36%), Nairobi (49%), and Western (49%) at the August polls.

The poll sampled 1,719 respondents from across the country, who were interviewed by phone in a poll funded by TIFA.
The respondents were picked from regions subdivided as Central Rift, Coast, Lower Eastern, Mt Kenya, Nairobi, Northern, Nyanza, South Rift, and Western, and divided according to the population.
The May results were from research conducted between 22-26 April 2022.
